Our interview for this issue is with Shy Di. You can visit her site here. She has a site full of memories of the 50's. Here's what Shy Di (Dianne) has to say:
I am 49 yrs old and have lived in upstate NY all my life until I moved down to Newburgh, NY which alot of people call upstate. I have lived here for a couple of yrs. I have 4 kids all grown up, and they all live upstate. I live with my better half Larry, and we have 2 dogs and a cat.
I have been on webtv for 3 yrs, and web is my salvation. I don't work so my web is what keeps me busy. I never thought I would get into any type of computer. But here I am.
I really didn't know what kind of homepage I wanted to do. I have made alot of f-keys and wanted to do something that was more interesting. Larry made a few sugestions and this is the one I decided I wanted to do, since I was young in the fifties and remember it were better times. I figured i could put feeling into it which would make it much more interesting for me to work on.
For the first year and a half I did not want to know nothing about html. Emailing friends was good enough for me. When I met Larry he finally got me into the html thing and I really enjoy it now. No more chat for me. I never thought i could learn html, and I do have alot more to learn.
I think if a person is new to web and html they should not give up. I was so discouraged learning it, but now I enjoyed making websites, and I never even new what a website was..lol.. Larry was my insirpation for doing my fifties site. I would get discouraged, and sick of surfing for images and thinking of what to say next. then he would come home from work and ask what I had done with it and when I showed him, he would tell me it was really good. My 50's site has gone over great. Better than I could have imagined. Now I am working on page 2, and who knows what will be next.
